Two Step Email List Verification Process

Two step verification is done both via the web site and by direct e-mail.
Here is how we do it:

Web site-based Mailing List Sign up:

Step 1 Verification:

Visitors can sign up at this on-line location to request to be on the e-mailing list:

Contact

They provide these mandatory fields: name, e-mail, and phone.
The request is automatically sent to the owners personal e-mail account at:
mail@wildfoodadventures.com

Step 2 Verification is requested of them in an e-mail we send:

Anywhere between immediately receiving the request e-mail and 24 hours, at the latest, requesters are sent a personal follow-up e-mail by, John Kallas, the owner of the list. It looks like this:

Dear “Person”

Today you signed up via https://wildfoodadventures.com to be put on the Wild Food Adventures E-notification list… to be notified of wild food events happening near you.

Good to hear from you. In order to be added to our mailing list, we’ll need your address. At the minimum, your city, state, and zip to put you in the system and to verify your request. Since we serve people from all over North America, we use “location” to organize our database and know when it is appropriate to send you reminders. For instance, if we are offering a workshop in Iowa, and you live in Oregon, it does not make sense to send you an additional e-mail about an event in Iowa.

Also, if you would, please put “mail@wildfoodadventures.com” on your service providers “white list” to assure that mail we send you is not blocked as spam.

You can request to be off (Opt-out) of the list at any time by sending us an e-mail with “remove” in the subject line.

Respectfully,

John Kallas, Ph.D., Director, Wild Food Adventures

E-mail-based Mailing List Sign up:

People find out about us and our e-mail address through a variety of media and personal appearances, so regularly request to be on our list by sending us a direct e-mail.

Step 1 Verification:

People send us an e-mail requesting to be on our e-mailing list.

Step 2 Verification

Our process, like the above request is to send them a follow-up e-mail requesting any information they left out of their initial request. It requires that they commit to being on the list and typically contains the following:

_________________________________________

Dear “Person”

Thank you for your request to be on our e-notification list.  To better serve you, it would help us to know your complete physical address, and phone – or at the minimum what city, state & zip that you are in so that we do not send you more announcements than would be appropriate for your location. Please complete the following:

Address:
Phone:

We work with people all over North America. Your location specifically allows us to notify you of wild food workshops and events occurring near you. The physical address is necessary because it is how our list is organized and managed – even though we do not physically mail you anything.

The phone number is a back up means of contacting you for workshops or other business that you initiate. I send a reminder e-mail to anyone who has registered for a workshop. If e-mail does not work (this can happen for a variety of reasons), I will call. The phone is not used for solicitation.

Also, if you would, please put “mail@wildfoodadventures.com” on your service providers “white list” to assure that mail we send you is not blocked as spam.

You can request to be off (Opt-out) of the list at any time by sending us an e-mail with “remove” in the subject line.

Respectfully,
