Spring is when wildflowers are blooming and wild greens are ripe for picking. See plants like wild violet\, Solomon’s seal\, fairly bells\, licorice fern\, various fiddleheads\, wild ginger and much more. Learn the many ways they can be used as food. Explore one of the more beautiful forests in Seattle’s own backyard. On your registration form choose either this or the Brier workshop on Sunday. Once a choice is made you will need permission if you want to transfer to the other. For a poster of this event choose either a pdf file (good for printing and sharing by e-mail)\, or a png file\, (better for posting on some social media) \nWhat to Bring\n— Prepare for the weather.\n— Any remaining registration materials that you need to hand in.\n— Comfortable walking\, hiking shoes or boots. No flip flops.\n— Money if you want to buy John’s books ($25-30 each [sliding scale] list price is $28). We accept cash\, check\, or CC ($1 extra each book for CC fee). That is where we will meet. If the lot is full\, park in the surrounding neighborhood\, taking care not to block driveways or other important features. Don’t leave valuables in your car. There might not be a restroom there\, so go before you arrive. Here is a GOOGLE MAP. to the site. \n\nPricing Details\nSliding Scale Economics\nDue to hard economic times for some\, sliding scales are offered to support individual financial circumstances.  We ask participants to pay what they feel they can afford within the range offered for each workshop.  You decide what to pay using an honest assessment of your individual circumstances.  We do not ask anyone to explain their very personal decision.  The high end is a very reasonable price for these quality workshops for those who are doing well in this economy. Groups must contact us for circumstance-specific rates. Rendezvous have their own rates. \nDiscounts\n$5 Discounts are available on our Registration Form for adult family members that attend together\, persons identifying as indigenous\, full time college students and scout leaders. Children (17 and under) must be accompanied by their parent(s). Children under 7 are free. Children 7 and above pay their age. No more than 2 children allowed per adult. Classrooms and teachers with students are not eligible for these discounts and must contact us for circumstance-specific rates. Rendezvous have their own rates. \nRefund & Transfer Policies\nIf you cannot attend a workshop you registered for\, and you contact us immediately\, or at the latest\, the last weekday before the event\, you are entitled to a transfer or refund minus a $5 processing fee. This workshop is generously hosted by 21 Acres organic farm\, market\, and sustainable education center. There we’ll find many organic edible native and non-native plants growing in and around the center. The center has fields\, woodlands\, and wetlands where many plants thrive. This wide coverage will give us a good overview of the diversity of edible plants available in the Pacific Northwest. Learn identification\, use\, and processing. This workshop covers many of the plants seen in the books: Edible Wild Plants: Wild Foods From Dirt to Plate\, and Wild Foods from Foraging to Feasting by author and workshop leader John Kallas. Signed copies will be available following this workshop.
