This is one of three events taught by John Kallas in Eugene, Oregon over Friday, May 22 and Saturday, May 23, 2026. The first event on Friday is at the Eugene Public Library where you can enjoy an entertaining and educational slide presentation, lecture, video, and possibly live samples of Wild Foods of the Pacific Northwest. At this point in the season, many wild plants are ripe for picking. From forest trails to waterways and neighborhoods; there are lots of things to eat out there. Learn how to get the most out of your efforts to learn about wild foods. There will be a question and answer period and John will sell and sign copies of his books at the end of the presentation.
This indoor presentation is offered as one part of the “You Can Forage That!” educational series hosted by the Eugene Public Library from April 19 to October 21.
John Kallas, is the Director of Wild Food Adventures outdoor school and author of two books: “Edible Wild Plants: Wild Foods From Dirt to Plate”, 2010 and “Edible Wild Plants: Wild Foods From Foraging to Feasting”, 2023. He will bring signed copies of these books to sell. No registration required.
The following day, John will teach two hands-on, outdoor workshops.
